The 2014 Caliber is purposely both inviting and intriguing. It joins rich, luxurious aromas of
blackberries, Chambord and sour cherries with spicy, exotic notes of cassia, sandalwood
and clove. The palate entices you with an immense entry of fresh-cut red fruit, so dense it’s
almost savory. This weight persists in the mouthfeel, which is towering in stature, but
nimble on its feet. Subtle hints of cedar and mocha gracefully linger for a satisfying finish.
The 2014 Caliber is a shady spot on a hot summer day. 159 cases produced.
Fermented in a combination of 1-ton open top tanks and small stainless steel
tanks following a five-day cold soak. Open top lots were punched-down by hand 2-3 times
daily and tank lots were pumped over twice per day. Lots were pressed off the skins after a
total of 16-22 days of skin contact time.
Aging: 16 months post fermentation in French oak barriques (~60% new oak).
