Like a hand-bound antique book that’s had its pages turned, the 2015 Praetorian will only improve after a few dusty years in a cellar. Plenty of spice, roast hazelnuts, nougat and undercurrents of pomegranate combine for an opulent, yet reserved wine. Despite the delicate ruby color the palate has a focused, steely structure. Cold-rolled blue steel and juxtapositions complex enough to keep any intellect intrigued. Cherry pit flavors peak out from behind the spice and glide into the confectionery middle and end.
