Syrah 54%, Petite Sirah 18%, Zinfandel 18%, Grenache 10%
A force, a trajectory. A cipher for understanding the complex language of central coast Syrah.
The nose of the 2015 Reckoning hints at late summer, evocative of an epic and bucolic Hudson River School Scene: fig jam, baked cherries, fruit leather, lavender, rosemary blossoms, and a touch of sexy spice from the oak. As the wine warms, scents of candied honeycomb, mocha, and caramel melt together and roll over the top of the glass. The palate feels creamy and velvety, like a perfectly whipped chocolate mousse. Tannins are present but not obvious. Acid adds structure and brings a whiff of freshness to the weight and fatness of the body. While this wine appears to be all power, there is nuance and subtlety packed into every nook and shadowed corner. This is a cuvée that pleases every palate. (More info below)
