L'Autre Femme 2016
Roussanne 82%, Viognier 10%, Sauvignon Blanc 8%
"Beauty without grace is the hook without the bait." - Emerson
A kiss on the lips followed by a slap in the face. Like its namesake, the 2016 L’Autre Femme invites the taster in with subtle layers of perfumed, exotic aromas of rambutan, star fruit, and jasmine. Soon, more familiar notes of bosq pear, white peach, and vanilla take hold. On the palate, the wine presents a crisp, fresh entrance, driven by hints of key lime and guava. The texted mouthfeel finishes soft and pillowy, with lingering, pleasant traces of toffee and brioche. Give in to temptation and have a glass - or three! (More details below.)
ONX Estate Vineyard, Templeton Gap, Paso Robles (Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc); Hearthstone Vineyard, Adelaida District, Paso Robles (Roussane)
Fermented in four neutral, water-bent French oak barriques. The Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier were pressed together and co-fermented. The Roussanne was pressed and fermented separately. The wine was kept on the lees (in the same neutral French oak barriques where fermentation occurred) and stirred every two weeks for five months, then racked off the lees and further barrel aged for an additional three months prior to bottling.
Harvested on September 8, 2016.
