Level 22 2014
Petite Sirah 45%, Syrah 33%, Mourvedre 12%, Grenache 10%
A blueprint in a bottle. Inspiration on demand.
Dark, dusty, alluring, and perfumed…the 2014 Level 22 is generous from the start. Familiar aromas of dried apricots, cranberries and sarsaparilla entice you. On the palate, the wine is dense, silky smooth, and skintight. Its dusty tannins are fine-grained and resolved, trailing off into a seamlessly integrated finish, like the sunset ending of a classic western movie.
ONX Estate Vineyard, Templeton Gap District, Paso Robles. All grapes for Level 22 were harvested over a month long period ranging from September 18th, 2014 through October 15th, 2014.
Fermented in a combination of 1-ton open top tanks and small stainless steel
tanks following a five-day cold soak. Open top lots were punched-down by hand 2-3 times
daily and tank lots were pumped over twice per day. Lots were pressed off the skins after a
total of 14-22 days of skin contact time. 18-19 months post fermentation in once used French oak puncheons.
