Syrah 58%, Grenache 42%
A compass and pith helmet for the soul.
A wine that offers an expression of place and time; the 2016 AVAtrix takes you to deep west Paso Robles in a hot and dry growing year. Cathartic and ripe, the nose predominately boasts notes of lychee and pomegranates, while richer notes of boysenberries offer a background respite. Sweeter aromas of graham cracker and brown sugar interplay with notes of rum candy that layer the ripe and warm nature of the bouquet. The palate opens with a bright and angular acidity that helps lift fresh and concentrated notes of cranberry. A fine velvet tannin structure plays in the background behind the lively acidity and waits to show itself more assertively on a well-layered and long-lasting finish of honey and caramel. Drink now through 2022.
