Zinfandel 65%, Petite Sirah 24%, Mourvèdre 11%
Ripe with spirit, and generous with its attentions. informed attitude for those who like a little sass on the side.
Zinfandel based, the Brash cuvee has benefited most from the post-drought era as the vines that form the floor level of this wine have made a strong return to health after Paso’s first wet season in nearly 6 years. A return to health meant a return to balanced flavors and chemistry in the grapes, and more flexibility on our part as when to harvest. Library clone Petite Syrah offers depth with a dose of uncommon acidity for the variety, giving the wine the balance we seek in our blending. And lastly, Mourvedre from the ONX Estate firms up the tannin structure without dominating those old-time Zinfandel aromatics and flavors that we all love. Jammy and bright, the nose is like toast layered with light butter and blackberry jam. Warm honey and raspberry also leap from this fruit filled glass, but a more earthy side of tobacco and green tea provide a therapeutic background. The palate boasts a weighty entry of rich plum syrup and boysenberry jam that cascade into a palate of fresh figs and cranberry. A bright acidity cuts through the jammy palate setting the stage for a moderate to heavy tannin presence that carries well into the finish.
