Field Day has always included Sauvignon Blanc, but in 2019 we decided to make Sauvignon Blanc the core of the wine's identity and express how well the variety performs at our estate. Aromatic and juicy, tropical and fresh, the Sauvignon Blanc is blended with a dash of Grenache Blanc for acidity and even less Viognier for depth of flavor to curate a cuvée indicative of the main act. Lychee as can be, the nose is focused and sweet with supporting aromas of lemon zest and sticky apricot. Along with a tropical Pina Colada combination of coconut and pineapple are herbal notes of oleander flower and dry grass. The entry of the palate is syrupy and filled with more flavors of pineapple and bananas, but rather short as citrusy lime flavors cut through and make way for a saline and acidic mid palate of granny smith apples, citron, and fresh pear. Follows through with acidic Oro Blanco grapefruit, making for a short yet viscous finish.
