We don't produce "the other woman" every vintage and the opportunity to taste the final, bottled version of her requires a level of patience that we're not used to with white wines, but she did not disappoint. Barrel fermented and aged Sur Lie for 6 months, this blend of Rhone white varieties benefited from partial malolactic fermentation and frequent lees stirring to create a soft and complex array of aromas and flavors. Aromatics of passion fruit and mango topped with a note of creme patisserie create a unique and inviting overtone to the wine that blends tropical sweetness with French baking. Lying underneath, notes of juniper berry, honeydew melon, and white peach add a fresh complexity to the nose. On the palate, an entry rife with pineapple dominates but cut by a rich heavy cream blended with honeycomb. The softness and richness of the entry extends onto the edges of the palate, yet the core of the palate is sternly acidic with flavors of lime and white grapefruit which prevents the palate from becoming overly sweet. The finish is akin to the entry with fruit cloaked flavor of apricot that is kept rounded by a tone of creamy chevre cheese.
