For the first time since 2017, The Other Woman returns to 100% estate-sourced grapes as we utilized new plantings of Picpoul Blanc at the ONX Estate Vineyard as the base for this Rhone-styled white blend. Fermented and aged in small 225L Barriques and large 500L Puncheons, we both stirred the lees frequently and allowed for full secondary malolactic fermentation to create a sensuous and rounded white wine. While Picpoul provides a welcomed and stern acidity in some of our other white wines, being the lead in L'Autre Femme necessitated rounding it out, lest the acid of the grape rips the enamel right off your teeth. We had never done full malolactic on Picpoul before and weren't sure what we'd get on the other end, but it's easy to say that we were pleasantly surprised by the result. The nearly-other half of the blend is a more established Rhone white grape from the ONX Estate that is a familiar sight for this wine. Viognier provides a pleasing elaboration of fruitful and floral characteristics that prove to layer the wine with intriguing wrinkles and some additional weight on the palate.
