Grounded in Syrah at a whopping 38% of the blend, 2017 is based in earhty undertones and syrupy dark fruit while Mourvedre and Petit Verdot provide stuffing to the mid palate and Petite Sirah offers breadth to the palate's flavors. Graphite and wet stone present on the nose first followed by sweeter tones of plum reduction and acidic blueberries. Undertones of dark roasted coffee and freshly lit cigar present an herbal yet bright undertone contrasted by candied figs and vanilla tones. The palate offers up earthy and peppered flavors of spicy lentils and cracked black pepper that evolve into a brigther pomegranate note that carries into a juicy mid palate filled with cranberry sauce, Rio Star, and Rainier cherries. Mixed in with moderate and velvety tannin, the flavors take on a layered effect as they cascade into a developed and also juicy finish of anise and brambly berries that slowly decrescendo.
